Beg, Borrow, Cite - A Maverick Research Workshop
Given a research question and a short reading, students will get hands on practice identifying the most relevant and useful information to support an argument. To contextualize the importance of attribution, we'll explore a set of intentional and unintentional plagiarism cases, and work to recognize how to avoid plagiarism in our writing. Students will leave with a deeper understanding of the value of information to support their own writing, ways to incorporate intellectual property without violating a creator’s rights, and how to recognize and actively discourage plagiarism. All CMU students, faculty, and staff welcomed.
